ISAYSOBEIT.COM

a site with a bit of this and a bit of that
  • .: So what is this place? :.

The answer is, who knows. All I know at this time is this will be a place where I can make comments on anything, maybe be a devils advocate on different subjects, and provide some computer help links. Who knows, maybe I will also give reviews on local restaurants, movies, and such... Then again, maybe I will put jokes and games on it. As if anyone will visit this place... oh well, so be it

    It’s been a while

Posted By dan on June 19, 2010

Wow, it has been a while since I last posted. Since my last post, I finished moving to Osceola from Jonesboro, At the end of April I got flooded out by some heavy rains. Ended up with over three inches so the carpets had to replaced, walls had to be torn out and a bunch of other stuff. I had to move out for a week and then move back in. Fortunately did not lose much.

Other than that it has just been the same boring thing every day. I really hate living in Osceola, it is a small town with very little to do. Have to go to Blytheville or back to Jonesboro to find stuff to do. I should have known better since this is the third time moving to Osceola.

    Oh well…

    Church Denominations

Posted By dan on April 22, 2010

To be saved, some churches believes you must be baptise to be save, some don’t, some believe you must speak in tongues, some don’t, some believe you must do good works and some don’t. I could go on and on about the difference things different churches believe that you need in order to be saved. Every one of those churches can show you their position in the bible. The question is, who is right?

Let me answer the question this way,

There once was a man who did not believe that Jesus died for our sins and rose again three days later. He required additional proof in order to believe. All of his friends said he was wrong and additional proof was not needed. One day, Jesus provided that addition proof and now that person believes with all his heart. His name was Thomas – remember him, he is also sometimes called Doubting Thomas. See John 20: 24-29

Today some people think it is way too easy to become a christian. They require additional proof for them to believe. I personally think that is why there are so many different denominations, Sometimes it takes that difference for the doubt to go away. The bible shows Jesus did not seem to mind that he had to do something different in order for Thomas to believe.

I know what I said is very controversial but it is what I believe.

    Will you be remembered?

Posted By dan on April 20, 2010

You see, you think, you feel, you dream, you act, you see from behind your eyes, you are self aware. One day, it will all be gone, There will be nothing left, nothing – not even blackness, no dreams, no feelings, no nothing, you will not exist, there will be absolutely no more self awareness, no more you – no way, no how, no sir, no nothing, absolutely nothing… or will there?

How will you be remembered or will you be remembered? Will you be remembered as a happy person, sad person, angry person? Will you be remembered as a complainer, a mocker, a loner or a jerk? will you even be remembered? Will you be remembered as a good person, a bad person, a true friend, or even a Christian?

You will not be here to defend yourself, you will no longer exist, you are nothing, there is no self awareness, not one single bit of living essence because you are gone…but you will never know, because there is nothing left of you or is there?

Your family, your friends, your neighbours, your coworkers, everyone will slowly forget you. Life moves on without you. As years go by there will be nothing left to remember, nobody left to remember, you will be forgotten in history, even your tombstone will crumble but life moves on… what about you?

    Memories again

Posted By dan on April 11, 2010

Many, many years ago in the early 80′s, when I first moved to Arkansas, I joined a church in Gosnell. At that time I was very active in Church. I was there everytime the door was opened. I was even their song leader for a few weeks until I realized how bad I sung and could not ad lib upcoming events – What can I say, stage fright….

Anyway I sung solo for the first and the last time in my life at that time. It was a song I really like and to this day it still means a great deal to me.

The reason I mentioned it is I just ran across it in youtube being sung by the Gaithers so I decided to share it.

    Easter Memories

Posted By dan on April 1, 2010

Easter is this Sunday and I was thinking about past Easters. One of my favorite ones was when we were living in West Sacramento California. I think I was in kindergarten. Though I may not remember all the details of it, I do remember my dad mowing the yard the day before and had us kids make easter nests out of the cut grass. Sunday morning we got up and found that during the night colorful eggs magically appeared in those nests. Childhood miracles.

This was in the mid 60′s when life was so much simpler, when easter was the magical holiday, before the greed of the retailers basically destroyed the magic of the holiday for the kids.

Some may read and wonder what about Jesus and what about his story? To be honest, most kids that age could care less. They would not understand the miracle of Jesus and the sacrifices he made for us. You can tell them the true story of Easter, but it would just be a story to them until they are old enough to understand. Me, I am for letting kids be kids – and that is what my parents did – let us be kids and enjoy the magic of the holiday.
